When working for social change, we often wish that people “just knew the facts!”. While educating the public is a critical component of advocacy, how we talk about the facts is just as important as the information itself. When we try to convince people to come to our side using hard data and negatively framed talking points, we consistently fail to reach those who need to hear us. Going back to our earliest ancestors, stories have been a critical part of how we learn, connect, and understand our place in the world. In this webinar, you’ll learn about the cognitive science behind our decision-making, the importance of stories, the elements that create a compelling story, and how we can use language to shift negative perceptions of housing growth.

This webinar will be led by Lily Linke, Director of Municipal Engagement at CHAPA. She brings her background as a performer and arts educator to her work in policy advocacy, and looks forward to sharing her knowledge with you.
