Housing Day has been POSTPONED
Out of an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus, CHAPA has decided to postpone Housing Day at the State House scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11.
Over the next few days, we will decide how to reschedule Housing Day. We may consider hosting a virtual event to help inform our members and policy makers of our Housing Day Priorities. We'll also be following up with action items that you can take to help move forward these important affordable housing policies and resources by calling and emailing your legislators!
For those attendees who have arranged their own meetings with legislators, we encourage you to still reach out to those offices to share our priorities! If CHAPA helped you arrange meetings, we have let the offices know that we have postponed Housing Day.
We realize we sent out a note yesterday reminding people about Housing day and we apologize for any confusion and inconvenience. However, we want to make sure that we are doing our part to help people stay healthy!
Housing Day priorities include:
- Passing the Housing Choice Bill to help communities plan for and build more housing that is affordable for people across all income levels
- Increased funding for affordable housing resources that help residents with the lowest incomes find and stay in stable homes, like the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program, Alternative Housing Voucher Program, and Public Housing
- Creating a Right to Counsel so tenants with low incomes facing eviction have court-appointed legal representation during the proceedings and information on housing stabilization resources
- CHAPA's other legislative and budget priorities
