Salary Range - $48,830.80 - $70,661.04

What it’s all about: 

This position is accountable for property visits related to various aspects of Loan Servicing, attending foreclosure sales, and mortgage counseling and collections through foreclosure to ensure minimal risk exposure to Rihousing.

What you’ll do on a daily basis: 

This position is accountable for property visits related to mortgage default, evictions, municipal notices of violation, occupancy issues, and insurance loss claims. The position is also responsible for attending foreclosure sales and recording miscellaneous documents at all state municipalities. The position also includes working with borrowers who are behind on their mortgage payments and provides counseling to help them avoid default or more serious legal action through phone contact and face to face counseling for sub-servicing and RIHousing portfolios.They perform various mortgage counseling, collections and research functions on a daily basis, as follows: 

  • Assists in administering the collections process in compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines and investor  requirements including delinquency reporting to appropriate investor and insurer; 
  • Contacts delinquent borrowers through property visits to determine reason for default, provides face to face counseling, and performs property condition assessment for   referral   to Default Supervisor for further action;
  • Performs monthly property inspections on delinquent loans to determine occupancy, as well as 203K rehabilitation loans and insurance escrow holdbacks to determine the status of repairs/improvements; completes inspection reports detailing findings
  • Attends foreclosure sales as RIHousing representative. 
  • Attends eviction hearings as RIHousing representative.
  • Works with vendors, municipal employees, utility companies and borrowers to provide access to properties secured by RI Housing.
  • Handles recording of time-sensitive documents at all municipalities throughout the state.
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation and monitors the status of assigned loans.
  • They are cross-trained in other servicing functions and provides support in performing special projects as assigned.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Assists in administering the collections process in compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines and investor requirements.
  • On a daily basis, contacts delinquent borrowers through property visits to determine the reason for default, provides face to face counseling and performs property condition assessment to ensure minimal risk exposure to RIHousing sub-servicer portfolios.
  • Performs delinquent property inspections, as well as inspections for 203K rehabilitation and insurance loss repair; prepares inspection reports.
  • Attends foreclosure sales and eviction hearings as RIHousing representative.
  • Position requires a significant amount of time on the road.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Three years’ experience in mortgage collections and counseling
  • Knowledge of GNMA, FNMA, FHLMC and FHA/VA insured loans including knowledge of foreclosure and eviction process knowledge of credit reporting requirements
  • Strong negotiations, communications and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and strong time management skills.
  • Associates degree in business administration or related field
  • Bilingual ability required (particularly Spanish or Portuguese)
  • Preferred knowledge of mortgage documents and municipal recordings.
  • Preferred knowledge of property condition and municipal property violaltions.
  • Use of personal vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
  • Limited telework schedule due to nature of the job.
