Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time Director, Residential Programs in our Housing Support Services department. The Director, Residential Programs furthers our mission through the successful administration and supervision of emergency assistance scattered site shelter programs for homeless families, ensuring the successful placement of families into permanent housing through rehousing-focused assessments and planning, case management, and supportive services. The Director manages all required service provisions, including but not limited to unit maintenance and compliance in collaboration with the Residential Operations team.

A successful candidate will have progressively responsible experience in a shelter setting that includes supervising others.

The candidate will work largely onsite.  One remote day per week may be approved as appropriate to the needs of the program.

Responsibilities include:
•    Responsible for the direct supervision of the shelter scattered site housing teams, including the coordination and delivery of services:  rehousing plans, assessments, intakes, case management, triaging services, and permanent housing placements
•    Ensure dynamic and effective coordination of case management and related services in the rehousing of families in a rapid and empathetic manner; oversee and support program managers with maintaining complete and accurate case files, to include all funding-based certifications and requirements
•    Ensure managers and staff are consistently updated on all data requirements in database(s) and spot-check for accuracy; proactively run reports and analyze data to track compliance with program, state, and federal regulations and policies
•    Assist program managers with coordination and oversight of case management and housing search work to rapidly and effectively rehouse families
•    Monitor and evaluate all day-to-day activities and program needs; ensure all standards, procedures, and protocols are understood and properly implemented; report areas for expansion to supervisor
•    Develop partnerships with internal and external service providers and vendors to ensure comprehensive and seamless service delivery; coordinate, collaborate on, and share current resources that support transition to permanent housing, including stabilization topics; procurement, delivery, and assistance with supplies and furnishings; and budgeting
•    Oversee the completion of all program billing in a timely manner
•    Support program managers in the planning and facilitation of relevant workshops and group activities for program participants that help to address barriers outlined in rehousing plans
•    Ensure contract and code compliance on all leased units; assist in the identification of viable units as needed; work in collaboration with the Director, Residential Operations to facilitate lease-up and renewal of all contracts
•    Work closely with the Residential Operations team to coordinate moves, admissions, unit turnovers, and appropriate maintenance of all shelter units, including but not limited to overseeing the efficient, thorough completion of unit inspections according to program requirements and providing timely follow-up as needed
•    Develop ongoing preventive maintenance unit inspections schedule for the scattered site portfolio in collaboration with the Director, Residential Operations and Maintenance Manager to ensure health and safety standards are consistently met 
•    Work closely with the Operations team to ensure ongoing communications on all repairs and other related concerns to property owners; oversee the proper use of the work order database to track repairs, inspections, and unit turn overs
•    Assist in the mediation of issues between clients and owners/landlords
•    Act as a representative of the organization at state and regional provider meetings, as appropriate and assigned
•    Proactively identify and inform leadership of any issues that may adversely affect the clients, program, or organization; as appropriate, assist in the identification and implementation of appropriate corrective action
•    Stay current on housing and homelessness services topics and trends
•    Provide on-call services as scheduled

Supervisory responsibilities include:
•    Set effective and achievable training plans for new staff members; evaluate and make process improvements based on feedback
•    Evaluate and provide timely feedback to staff on performance-related matters; assess staff members’ strengths and developmental needs; implement performance plans to ensure the development and/or maintenance of necessary skills
•    Hire new/replacement staff in an efficient and equitable manner, following recruiting process guidelines
•    Provide proper support and mentoring to supervisory-level employees to ensure they manage their team effectively through training, communication/feedback, group and 1:1 meetings, timely evaluations, performance plans as necessary, and efficient and thoughtful hiring
•    Those directly and indirectly supervised may include program managers, program staff, residential workers, and temporary workers

Requirements include:
•    7 years’ experience in housing/social services, program administration, or a related field; a combination of similar experience plus a Bachelor’s degree may be a substitute
•    Progressively responsible mid-to-senior-level leadership experience
•    Proficient in Microsoft applications (including Excel and Teams), and comfort learning new technologies
•    Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines
•    Able to effectively communicate with all levels of internal staff and external clients and constituents
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish)skills preferred, but not required
•    Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle
