ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Success Coach (SC) will provide support to opportunity youth ages 16-24 from the beginning of the program throughout their entire stay at YouthBuild North Shore. The SC is responsible for providing participants with career exploration, job readiness services along with relevant job placements and career-building opportunities for YouthBuild participants. The SC is hands-on and active in the program’s Future Success, Leadership Development, and College Readiness components as well as the job, and alumni clubs. The SC has a strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives and nurture their leadership skills. 

Main Goal(s)

The goal is to support the professional development of YouthBuild participants and work closely with them and the Success Manager to determine educational and career goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsibilities and essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate the Future Success class for YouthBuild participants
  • Assist YouthBuild staff and students to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews
  • Meet with students at regular intervals to learn their job and career goals or immediate needs
  • Plan and organize job search skills workshops including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills
  • Work with Success Manager in marketing the program to potential employers. This will include developing and making presentations about YouthBuild.
  • Deliver oral presentations as requested to employers/industry associations
  • Follow-up with employers after a participant is placed in employment or internship to ensure the participant is meeting expectations and identify additional skills participants may need to meet employer demand
  • Complete reports for department and grants i.e AmeriCorps, WIOA, and DOL
  • Assist with the coordination of special projects, events and activities as required ( ie. career fairs)
  • Attend weekly meetings as required by the supervisor
  • Assist Success Manager with daily tasks to ensure premium service and smooth program functioning
  • May serve as backup within the department as needed.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enthusiastic, and resourceful.
  • High energy and motivation to help young people succeed.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with others
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and Google
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills 
  • Ability to relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
  • Organized, capable of handling multiple requests and tasks, detail-oriented, excellent at follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible as specific tasks will change with the evolution of the program 
  • Valid Drivers License + comfortable driving 15-passenger van
