CFPB Proposes Rule to Improve Information About Access to Credit in the Mortgage Market - August 14, 2014

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has issued a proposed rule for comment that would expand the types of information under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and extend coverage of any dwelling secured loan (unsecured home improvement loans would no longer be covered.  As noted in a National Housing Conference summary, the proposed rule would greatly expand understanding of mortgage market trends. Comments are due by October 22, 2014.
