Paycheck to Paycheck 2013 - National Housing Conference - August 15, 2013

On August 15, the National Housing Conference issued its annual survey of wages and housing costs, Paycheck to Paycheck 2013, detailing rental and ownership costs in 207 metropolitan areas and the extent to which these costs are affordable to people in 76 specific occupations.  It also released a special report, A Snapshot of Metropolitan Housing Affordability for Travel and Tourism Workers.  The updated website includes comparative data on 207 metro areas as well as a lookup query for data on the affordability of each metro area by occupation.  An article on the report on theatlanticccities.com,  "The Many, Many Jobs That Won't Earn You Enough to Live in Your City", shows some of the many jobs in the Boston metro area do not pay enough to cover housing costs.  Overall, the Boston metro area was the 9 least affordable rental area and ranked 21st among the least affordable areas for homeownership.
