BOSTON – At a State House press event today, Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) released a briefing paper entitled, The Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program, Maintaining the State’s Primary Homelessness Prevention Tool. The report documents the program as a cost-effective tool to maintain housing for extremely low income families and individuals, and highlights the potential increase in homelessness and the subsequent increased costs to the Commonwealth if the program is cut. The briefing paper comes as lawmakers are deciding the fate of a program that helps the very populations identified as most at risk by the report.
