BOSTON – Monday, June 18, 2012 - The Patrick-Murray Administration’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) today announced the Housing Development Incentive Program (HDIP), a new state tax-credit program to spur market-rate housing development in the Commonwealth’s 24 Gateway Cities.

46 communities receive funding for housing and infrastructure upgrades, child care and public service programs
DENNIS – Tuesday, June 12, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick today announced that 46 cities and towns across the Commonwealth will receive $26.8 million in federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to support housing rehabilitation, public service projects and local infrastructure. Governor Patrick made the announcement at Dennis Town Hall. Dennis, jointly with Harwich, received $994,000 for housing improvements and childcare assistance.
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at DHHS has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement to demonstrate the effectiveness of supportive housing models for homeless families. The initiative includes a public-private partnership component, with four national foundations teaming up to provide support for technical assistance and evaluation. The aim is to help identify high needs families earlier and provide targeted services that can reduce child welfare system involvement and increase housing stability and employment.

Senate Ways and Means Committee Releases FY2013 Budget; Senate to Begin Budget Debate on May 23
The Senate Committee on Ways and Means (SWM) released its FY’13 budget proposal on May 16th and Senators had until Friday, May 18th to file amendments to the state spending bill. Here are some of the highlights:
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today released two reports on the impact of HUD-approved housing counseling has for those families who purchase their first homes and those struggling to prevent foreclosure. In both studies, HUD found housing counseling significantly improved the likelihood homeowners remained in their homes.
2012 MassWorks Infrastructure Program application materials are now online. The second annual MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant round will be open to new applications through an online system between Monday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Sept. 10.
The MassWorks Infrastructure Program provides a one-stop shop for municipalities and other eligible public entities seeking public infrastructure funding to support economic development and job creation. Municipalities with a population of 7,000 or less may also seek grants for road improvement that enhance safety.
