The Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP) was launched on June 20th by the Obama Administration to provide mortgage relief – up to $50,000 -- to homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed and at risk of foreclosure. The application deadline of July 22nd is fast approaching, and it is imperative to get the word out to clients who qualify for the program. There is funding available to assist approximately 1,250 Commonwealth homeowners, but they must complete a simple pre-application and submit it to an EHLP housing counseling agency by Friday, July 22nd.
The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) is seeking qualified organizations to provide individual, pre-purchase counseling to buyers of multifamily properties. In January of 2012, MHP is implementing a pre-purchase, individual counseling requirement for buyers of three-family properties. On Monday, July 11th, Governor Deval Patrick approved the total amount of FY2012 funding that the Legislature appropriated for the Commonwealth’s affordable housing and homelessness prevention programs. Click here to learn more about the funding level of each program.
BOSTON - Thursday, July 7, 2011 - Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray today launched a new public service campaign to inform struggling homeowners about the availability of interest free loans through the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP). Administered by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in conjunction with NeighborWorks America, Massachusetts homeowners are eligible for a total of $61 million in EHLP assistance, and must apply by July 22, 2011.
