Governor Baker Releases FY2018 Budget Proposal - January 26, 2017

On January 26th, Governor Baker released his FY2018 budget proposal. For a table showing an overview of CHAPA Priorities for affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and community development programs in the Governor's budget, please click here.

In his budget, the Governor proposed $97.5 million for MRVP - an increase of $11 million over FY2017. This is a significant increase for permanent affordable housing solutions and we thank the Governor for this investment!

Other funding changes included:

• $370,000 more for public housing reform;
• $1 million to authorize and expand housing court state-wide;
• $860,000 less for HomeBASE; and
• $700,000 less for foreclosure counseling.

The budget process now turns over to the Legislature where the House Committee on Ways and Means will prepare its budget proposal to release this spring.
