Listening at Scale: How We Strengthen the Narrative for More Homes and Affordability (HPAC Report Release)
Join CHAPA’s Housing Policy Action Center for an online, one-hour report release on July 15th at 12 PM tracking what works, what fizzles, and what the online housing conversation is really about: the rent is too high. We’ll dig into the findings from our companion reports, Constructing the Story and Anchoring the Story, analyzing housing narratives in traditional and social media.
Speakers:
- Jennifer Gilbert, Musicant Cohen Executive Director, CHAPA’s Housing Policy Action Center
- Jeff Reichman, Principal Consultant, January Advisors
- Eric Shupin, Chief Executive Officer, CHAPA
To discover what dominates the public discourse, CHAPA’s Housing Policy Action Center analyzed 800,000+ pieces of content in traditional and social media over five years, the same period when 177 communities debated local compliance with Massachusetts’s major land-use reform, the MBTA Communities Act.
The housing shortage is a hot topic of national conversation as well as a local lightning rod for our state. Framing, countering misinformation, and understanding fears will be critical to changing perspectives around housing and building political will to move toward solutions.
