Actions by the Senate and House this week mean decisions on the FY2014 HUD budget will be delayed until at least September.  On August 1, the Senate voted against cloture (54-43) on its Fiscal Year 2014 appropriations bill (S.1243) for Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD).

STATE UPDATES $1.4 Billion Housing Bond Bill Passes Legislature On Tuesday, July 30th, the Senate passed CHAPA’s top priority, the housing bond bill (H.3492). The bill authorizes $1.4 billion in capital spending over the next five years and extends the Low Income Housing Tax Credit at $20 million per year through 2020.

On July 26, Governor Patrick announced the award of $31 million in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to 38 cities and towns to support projects and activities in 61 communities.  These grants will support a wide range of activities, including housing rehabilitation, including loans to homeowners, infrastructure repair or replacement, public facilities, neighborhood improvement, social services, planning and architectural barrier removal.  They are funded from the annua

NOMINATIONS FOR 2014 ADVISORY COUNCIL  The Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLB) is now accepting nominations to fill three vacancies on its 2014 Advisory Council.  The vacant seats are for individuals actively involved in providing or promoting community lending in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, respectively.

MassHousing announced yesterday that it has closed on financing arrangements on Quincy Heights, the first project in the nation funded under HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods grant program to reach the closing table.
