October 28, 2019 - CHAPA urges the Legislature to swiftly pass H.3507, An Act to promote housing choices, in time for spring Town Meetings so that cities and towns can immediately start planning for zoning changes that will allow for more housing.

On October 24, 2019, the State Senate concluded debate on its FY2019 Supplemental Budget, S.2386, which closes out the FY2019 budget, which ended with a large revenue surplus. The House passed its supplemental budget on October 17. For information on the House budget, click here.

On October 21st, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means released its $771 million state supplemental budget proposal (S.2378) to close the books on FY19 budget.

On October 16, the Massachusetts House of Representatives concluded debate on its FY2019 state supplemental budget. The budget was to closeout the previous fiscal year, which ended with a major revenue surplus. The supplemental budget bill, H.4127, now heads to the Senate. The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is currently undertaking a review of 760 CMR 53.00, the regulation governing the Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP).  DHCD is considering incorporating revisions to the regulation to reflect necessary programmatic and legal updates, as well as revisions for clarity.  DHCD would welcome any comments regarding 760 CMR 53.00. Further opportunity for comment will also be offered through the formal regulatory promulgation process that will occur pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A.
