Longtime housing and community development expert will continue nonprofit’s mission of expanding affordable housing
BOSTON—April 28, 2015—Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) today named Aaron Gornstein, a local and national leader in the affordable housing community for 25 years, as its new President/CEO, effective June 10.
On Wednesday, April 29th, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed its $38.1 billion FY2016 state budget proposal.
The House budget funds the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and other housing programs at $442.2 million. The budget includes increased investments in proven programs that help keep families in their homes and prevent homelessness, including:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The proposed FY16 appropriations bill for Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies released today by the House Appropriations Committee would do serious damage to federal housing programs that aid some of the poorest and most vulnerable families in the nation and would zero out the only new funding targeted to expand rental housing that is affordable for these families.

Massachusetts House Begins Debate on FY2016 Budget
On April 17, HUD will formally release the Housing Choice Voucher Administrative Fee study conducted on its behalf by Abt Associates. HUD has scheduled an online public briefing on the findings and a new fee structure recommended by the authors on Friday, April 17 from 11:00 am to 12:30pm (click here to register).
On April 14, 2015, Sheila Crowley of the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and Jim Yates of the Technical Assistance Collaborative talked about the steps needed to implement the The National Housing Trust Fund in Massachusetts and how to target these resources to Extremely Low Income (ELI) households.
Financing will support 670 units of affordable housing in six communities
BOSTON – MassHousing and the state Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) announced $13 million in Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) loan closings today for affordable housing in six communities.
The AHTF financing will help create or substantially rehabilitate and preserve the affordability of 670 rental apartments.
