Moving Massachusetts Forward A Policy Briefing on Smart Growth and Transportation This policy brief provides recommendations for what the next administration can do to support communities across the state that are already building and preserving great neighborhoods. The policies and proposals in this brief encourage the next Governor to set and meet ambitious goals by providing better housing, transportation, and job opportunities to residents.
This fall, we completed 13 regional meetings in communities across the Commonwealth. Boston Public Health Commission aims to bring issues of health into the discussion. BOSTON -- For years research has shown a link between low income and health problems, yet economic and labor policy decisions rarely take health considerations into account. That may soon change thanks to a new project launching in Boston.

Homeless shelter to be redeveloped, adding new units for veterans Wednesday—October 29, 2014—Today the Patrick Administration announced $6.23 million in funding to support the redevelopment of the New England Center for Homeless Veterans on Court Street in Boston. The announcement furthers the state’s Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness among Veterans released in March 2013.
The Boston Foundation (TBF) is holding a grant competition, Health Starts at Home, to bring housing and health organizations together to address the negative impact that a lack of stable, affordable housing has on children’s health outcomes.  Winners of the competition will receive nine month planning grants from TBF to formulate and hone their partnership and proposed program to address health outcomes and housing instability in children.
