There are more renters today than in previous decades, but there are not enough units renting at affordable prices to meet the needs of the lowest income households. According to Housing Spotlight: The Affordable Rental Housing Gap Persists, released today by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), there is a deficit of 7.1 million rental units affordable and available to extremely low income households, those with income at or below 30% of area median income.

MHP Foreclosure Monitor   Overall foreclosure distress in Massachusetts declined 43.7 percent from July 2013 to July 2014, with Boston and the state's gateway cities both seeing healthy declines.   According Foreclosure Monitor's latest analysis of distress data, overall foreclosure distress in Boston has dropped 55 percent over the last year and 46.2 percent in the state's 26 gateway communities.

The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) has scheduled three informational meetings about the application process for its new Early Education and Out of School Time (EEOST) Capital Fund Program.  EEC will be awarding funds for major capital facilities projects, through a competitive grant process, to large group child care programs, including out of school time programs, that are run by non-profit entities or by an entity where the majority interest is a non-profit.
BOSTON – Friday, August 15, 2015– Housing and Economic Development Secretary Greg Bialecki today announced the start of the application process for state tax credits for developers with qualifying proposals for larger market rate housing projects in Gateway cities. The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will grant waivers to otherwise qualifying projects that exceed the current regulatory limit of 50 market rate units per project under the Housing Development Incentive Program (HDIP).
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has issued a proposed rule for comment that would expand the types of information under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and extend coverage of any dwelling secured loan (unsecured home improvement loans would no longer be covered.  As noted in a National Housing Conference
